My brother participated in his school's Japanese exchange program last year and stayed in Japan for 2 weeks. In return, he or rather us the family is hosting a exchange student to stay at our house for this week. I can understand why they're only staying for a week rather than 2 weeks...since there's nothing interesting here...lol. Anyways, the host family and the student is suppose to exchange gifts and Takeshi's family gave us this really really beautiful plate decoration. I love Japanese art and crafts...I stared at it for a while...looking at the little details. Very beautiful. I remember back in high school I participated in this clay event(forgot what is was called) but you paint layers of paint (glaze?) over the dried clay and put it in the oven to bake. After its done, the clay turns all glossy and stuff...but that was no where near as beautiful as this. I don't know how they made this plate all metallic and textured but I'm assuming they go through similar oven glazing process?...I took a crappy pic of the plate. Seriously the plate looks a lot nicer than the pic. If I take the pic any closer, my face and the camera's reflection will show on the plate...lol
